A system of education without meditation as its foundation ought to go haywire like the present system. No wonder it led to an atom bomb! A click of a button can lead to mass extinction on this planet any time. One ‘intelligent’ Harvard pass-out has an argument with his wife or drinks too much and we all are gone ☺

The benchmark of success set by the present education system is utterly faulty. It’s based on competition. And in a competition only a few could win if not only one. The basic premise that there is a limited amount of everything available on this planet and it’s available on ‘first come first serve basis’ is wrong. It’s unnatural and sick! So either there would be inferiority complex or the superiority complex taking birth. And both are dangerous, as we have witnessed over time.

There is an underlying assumption made by this system that growth and success could only be achieved in relativity, i.e., in relation to someone else or others. The system of marking and grading takes birth out of the womb of this false assumption.

By sowing ambition and competition very early into the minds of children this system kills all creativity and natural growth of the child. Such thinking takes him forever into either the past or the future. It simply snatches away from him this present moment where all creativity lies and functions naturally. Anxiety, worry, depression, fear, greed, hatred, jealousy are all the fruits of this system.

What needs to be done?

Simply ‘add’ meditation and self-awareness into the curriculum of schools and colleges. When a person is self aware he simply can’t manufacture an atom bomb. Not out of some rotten and stinking moral police sitting inside him but because of awareness. When it’s simply not there in the natural scheme of things then how could he do it? He does it because he has gone against this natural scheme, against his true nature of love, compassion and joy.

Problem is not with Harvard or the nuclear power or the science or the mathematics. The problem is the human mind. It is this mind that converts the boon of science into the bane of atom bomb and it is the same mind that converts it into medicine.
We are taught how to walk, talk, eat, sit, swim and so on. But who’s going to teach us how to think?, when to think?, how not to think?, what is mind?, who am I?, who is that other person sitting besides me and what is my relation to that person?
Training on mind and meditation is of utmost importance if this planet is to see us for a few more hundred years!
