Be Yourself… but!
No one in this world is interested in us. All are interested in themselves either consciously or unconsciously. It’s we who have to take care of ourselves. We are responsible for ourselves. And now is the time!
A father wants his son to become exactly like him; mother wants her daughter to become exactly like her; teacher wants his pupil to become exactly like him and even our children want us to follow them when we get old 🙂
Looking around me if I am told that I have no option other than to become like my elders, I would commit suicide right now! Because to live like a dead and to sleepwalk my whole life, I am loath. Why should I be an imitator when I could be a creator? I won’t insult God by doing so!
However, without meditation all our efforts toward becoming ourselves lead us to nothing but hypocrisy and running away from society and ourselves! All our actions then basically become a reaction to this society rather than being actions in themselves.
To be ourselves doesn’t mean to be disrespectful, disobedient, ungrateful and unloving. It’s the other way round. In fact we could be our own real selves only when we are utmost loving inside and grateful towards this existence.
History tells us that many had tried to become themselves without knowing their inner world and had gone haywire! Meditation gives us the direction and leads us towards our destination; destination ME!
