ख़ुश रहने की चाहत होना भी इक तड़प है
पर इस चाहत बिन जीना भी क्या कोई ज़िन्दगी है?
इक बार जान लिया तो अब रहा नहीं जाता
दुख के भ्रम में जीवन यूँ खोया नहीं जाता
गाड़ी पैसे बंगले के लिये आभारी हूँ तेरा,
पर ख़ुश रहे बिना ऐ ख़ुदा अब जीआ नहीं जाता ।

Translation :
Desire to be happy is a sort of pain
But in living life without this desire there is no gain
Now when I have come to know it I can’t help it
I can’t lose my life in the illusion of misery and suffering
I am thankful God you gave me money house and car
But without feeling happy I now can’t go far!
