The Anatomy of Awareness
We all are in the process of witnessing life. 24 hours we witness and experience so much both internally and externally. But we are not aware of this witnessing. Our witnessing is not free and is engulfed by ‘content’ that is our unlimited thoughts.
We witness in unawareness or sleepiness. Our sleepiness has even caused us to believe that we are the ‘content’ of our mind. This content gives us a false self. Our reality, however, is empty and content-less, which is our true self. Compulsive thinking gives a color to this clean slate of emptiness or consciousness and keeps us entangled in the world of content leaving no space for us to witness and feel our real empty self from which emanates true love, joy and compassion.
With meditation, we take the first step that is to get aware of our witnessing eye. We need to understand deeply through meditation that we are not the content but the content-less-ness or emptiness. With continuous work on ourselves, we start witnessing the ‘content’ and the ‘emptiness’ separately. Then it becomes a choice. At the press of a button we can shift places. We can still be in the world of content but we shall know well that it is not our true self and there exists a separate inner world of emptiness that is our reality and that is always available!
